@pristyq: Everyone complains about Kyoto being too touristy but contribute to the problem by only visiting the same few places 🥱 Get off the beaten path and add these spots to your itinerary to enjoy some moments of quiet and peace: 📍 Somekobo Yumeyusai Arashiyama is so much bigger than the bamboo grove. This gallery may be my favourite place in all of Kyoto, highlighting traditional dyed fabrics and windows offering gorgeous views of foliage and the river below. 📍 Ruriko-in This temple is gorgeous, with a lacquered table mirroring the view of foliage that looks like an ombre painting in fall 🥹 The moss garden here feels otherworldly as well. 📍 Hakuryu-en Garden One of the most beautiful, private places to catch fall foliage in Kyoto, the moss here is lovingly tended to by all the staff, covering the grounds and stairs and rendering the space a something out of a dream. I love the maple leaf shaped windows as well - very on brand with fall. 📍 Kifune Shrine The pathway of lanterns adorning the stairs up to the shrine is stunning and bonus if you come during autumn because these lanterns light up at night! I really recommend hiking from Kuramadera to get here. 📍 Kazariya This teahouse is centuries old, where you'll get to enjoy the special aburi mochi, glazed in sweet, earthy miso.
