slovenia was always a part of central Europe, connected more to Germany than the balkans. HRH, the habsburgs... our economy and culture reflect that. if you ignore the language we are much more germanic than slavic and we also adopted their work ethic. also slovenia is a key transport hub, connecting Germany and austria with northern Italy. it was also seen as a core part of austria, thus it recived more investment than regions like Croatia. thats why we're economically better of.

Very unfortunate phrasing, Russia is, like the poorest slavic country tegether with Ukraine and Belarus while Poland is among the richest with Czechia, Slovakia and Slovenia.
