Why would you turn the blade off with a piece in it -_-

You gotta push that board through way faster, you’re burning the side up, cause you’re going too slow

Omg, the sleeves, hoodie strings and where’s the guard, and riving knife 😭😭😭 please safety is very important!!! Go a little faster you’re burning the side and make sure to push it through all the way so nothing is touching the throat plate when you let go

If you don’t know how to use power tools, please watch a video on proper use. This is exactly what not to do, and the outcome was very lucky. Items can launch back at you or pull your hand close enough to get hit by the blade. Save your fingers 👍🏻

push the piece ALL the way through first. it has to clear the blade completely before doing anything else, including turning off the machine

To everyone in the comments spouting safety. Yes; long sleeves, giving knife, and blade guard are important. The reason this happened is because the hand placement is entirely wrong. As soon as the left hand moved while the right hand was overextened enough force directed the piece into the back of the blade.

Always best to make a sled for big stuff like that. It’s good it’s not a 5hp saw because that peice would have hit you at about 50mph right to the gut (ask me how I know)

Might want to swap out the zero clearance plate for a larger one to avoid buildup when not cutting smaller/thinner pieces
