I have so many thoughts on this. I don’t know that most people view it the way that you’re saying. It’s not intentional idolatry. I think a lot of people sincerely desire to follow God but have been raised in churches that say the Bible is Gods inspired word to us without teaching how to study it and how to view it through the proper lens. That leads to a lot of issues but I think intentions are most often sincere.

if you had just posted this a few days ago I would totally have stolen this (I say this loosely, of course you'd get credit) because I gave a sermon where I tried my best to say the same things but couldn't figure the words out and you just nailed it.

This is SO good. I remember being very triggered when a friend of mine mentioned not making the Bible an idol several years ago. Now that I’ve read & studied & prayed more, I totally understand what he meant. This is tough for me as someone who loves studying the Bible deeply — I easily fall into spending more time studying the Bible than I do talking to Yahweh. Yeshua quoted the scriptures often but he prayed even more and I think that’s the most important lesson we can take from him!

That’s some good theology. I hope people really get the depth of what you’re talking about. We continue to put our own modern understanding & current cultural context on Biblical things, but that inadvertently leads to misinterpretation. Context is everything for life. Without context, we miss so much.. This also helps us to understand the hypocrisy of current shallow Christianity which is exactly what Christ criticized. Thank you sir.
