It’s not just the guides that fail I’ve done plenty of N20 timing chains, and I can tell you the chain itself often physically stretches, which usually isn’t contributed to the guides as chains stretch overtime regardless. It was designed to be replaced.

2015* they redid the guide. Even some 2015 models aren’t updated

N20 owners should Change oil 3-5k try and find a 5w40 diesel oil with SN rating for gasoline engines these diesel oils are great in DI engines like n20s because they help prevent timing chain wear from the injectors

I had my n26 guide break and now the car don’t turn over , no codes or check engine lights just drivetrain malfunction , should I repair the guide or the engine isn’t worth trying ?

03/2015 was the confirmation that they fixed the guides in all N20/6s

I have a question, it may be weird but I got a 2014 mazda3 manual, the shifts are good no issues, I’m reaching 60k miles. Do you think I should change the trans oil like drain and fill (not flush cause it’s bad)?

i had my timing chain eat my serpentine belt and needed a whole new timing chain and had to clean literally everything out inside top to bottom

you forgot to mention that even if you have pre lci you can get the revised timing chain and fix the issue the tensor bolt is longer making it last longer brotha 🙌🙌

The oil pump thing is one thing but if the guides break in the wrong places your timing will jump because there is no more guide, then engine seized again
