Our hotel receptionist handled this for us. They called our next hotel to confirm our reservation then they measured and weighed our luggages and we paid. Two big check-in luggages from Osaka to Kyoto was $55 Canadian dollars. I’m assuming it’ll be around $75 if we ship to Tokyo! But 100% very worth it!!

I have a better idea, do all your shopping in the beginning of the trip and store the souvenir suitcase at the airport luggage storage until you leave - then just travel around Japan with a small carry-on with your daily wear

I just came back from Japan and we shipped our luggage from Tokyo to Kyoto with Yamato... My suitcase arrived HALF OPENED, zipper was destroyed. Mind you, I locked the suitcase, but somehow the METAL PART of the zipper got ripped apart and the staff was just like "Is this okay?" 💀 Safe to say I do not recommend

FYI when we shipped out suitcase from Tokyo to Niseko it took 2.5 days to arrive so plan accordingly!!
