There’s a historic farm in my neighborhood. Farmed by a first gen Japanese family who moved to it in the early 1900s. They were hardworking & productive in the town. WW2 hits. The family is sent to a “relocation” camp. The town buys the farm for $1, holds on to it until the end of the war & the family is released. The farm was given back to the family.🥰

this was happening to white farmers, since black farmers couldn't access banks and had yo use credit unions or insurance bonds, they were the least affected.

The US needs that type of energy today. The stand together energy. The govt isn’t the idol energy.

I just saw an episode of Little House on the Prairie where the Ingles were going to lose their farm and they did this. They’re friends bought all their stuff for a penny. I didn’t know this was a real thing.

I was literally just talking to my 96 yr old father about his dad, my grandfather, losing the family farm in the 30s in Whiteside County, Illinois. My dad said the shame and sadness his father felt over that loss never left him. Wish he’d been part of this kind of true generosity.
