CORRECT! When the show or movie is trying to spread one culture this is valid, but when a poc enjoys a show and there are only white, pale, perfect skin characters. It’s excused. Poc just want to be seen in their favorite shows as well, black washing includes more people, white washing keeps the standers of a pretty character set.

sooo basically the problem isnt actually blackwashing (which would be the act of turning/believing a character to be black/darkskinned, as its counterpart whitewashing is typically defined) its that some people force their own headcanons onto other people. and in these specific cases that headcanon just happens to be one about ethnicity/skin tone.
