Tom is out on the loose!!! (in his private sanctuary bedroom suite with his best friend Donna) 😁🎉 For those of you not experienced with feral cats and medical fosters, you may be wondering why I would opt to keep Tom in a triple tier kennel. For the last few months, his health has been touch and go. He’s had about a dozen vet appts between his primary doctor for extensive bloodwork and labs, an animal cardiologist for echocardiograms and heart scans and testing, and getting on the waitlist for a radioactive iodine injection treatment for hyperthyroid. All of the vet visits and new medications required me to wrangle him into carriers and moniter his medicine intake. I can’t touch Tom - it’s not his love language as an unsocialized feral cat. Keeping him in a triple tier kennel was the best option for the last few months as we navigated all the uncertainty and he adjusted to his new indoor life. But we’re entering a new normal phase in his retirement. Tom is going to continue having check ups and treatments, but it’s time for us to develop his new lifelong feeding and medicine routine, while letting him begin living his comfortable life 🥰 Follow along to updated with all of Tom’s new adventures!!! My heart is just so full watching him being a little athlete, jumping all over the place and climbing cat trees 🥹 I can’t predict the future, but for now, his hyperthyroid and congestive heart failure isn’t keeping him down at all 😁🎉 #tomcat #catrescue #catsanctuary
