I would have said the most expensive time to visit Japan is mid-March to early April. The cherry blossoms are basically over in Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto by the first week of April. But there are school holidays at the end of March in Japan, so there's a lot of domestic travel pushing up hotel prices and packing trains. 😁
