Well, his proficiency isn’t great. The biggest question is in his language. Does he understand? Would he be able to explain to you in his native language which he’s having a hard time finding the words in English to explain what his brain is saying in his native language that sign means I was trying to talk to a housekeeping Lady at the hotel. I was just seeing it for my company. I’m trying to ask her were you talking to your son or your spouse on the phone just trying to make conversation while she finished up in our room because I got there when she was cleaning our room I knew I was trying to say “ were you talking to your son or your husband?” my brain said that in English, my mouth wanted to say that, but I knew her English was decent but not great and so I wanted to practice when in Spanish what came out spouse so which of course wasn’t right so it took me a minute to dig around in my brain looking for the right word so I made the gesture for telephone cause I couldn’t remember the Spanish word and I asked her “telephone tu Esposo o Niño?” Which of course was on a prayer sentence, but it was the best I could do took her second to figure out what the hell I was trying to say, but she was able to go “oh esposo” so as possible that this man knows that the same means he’s supposed to go to the waystation if his truck is over X amount of weight, but he just can’t articulate it or he may not know what it means at all
