Backpacking + pizza in Yosemite 🏕️🍕🏞️ What an amazing trip! I’ve been to North Dome probably ten times, and it’s still one of my favorite spots in Yosemite. This trip was supposed to be to the top of El Capitan, but after not sleeping well in Camp 4 the night before, I woke up late on Saturday. I had to pick up my permit, and while I was on the way there, I thought about it and decided to change plans to go to North Dome instead. Way easier hike, and way better views. Luckily, the ranger at the wilderness station was cool and let me switch the permit. I arrived at Porcupine Trailhead along Tioga Road around 1 PM, packed all my gear, and got on the trail. The hike is actually super short, around 4.5 miles with a little bit of elevation. I stopped on the way to fill my water bags with 4 liters of water since there’s no water out there. I made it to North Dome around 4 PM and it was still super hot outside. I waited in the shade to cool off, then started setting up. I recently got the @durstongear X-Mid Pro 2+ and it’s been a game changer. I chilled for a bit before setting up all my @Fire Maple Gear Store for the cooking. This time, it was Margarita pizza. I thought about making the dough from scratch, but that felt like a little too much, so I bought it at my local pizza spot which is delicious. I did make the pizza sauce from scratch and it was tasty, topped with fresh cherry tomatoes and mozzarella. And of course, I had to bring my favorite beer @Russianriverbrewing Pliny The Elder to make it the perfect combo. I had one of the best dinners of my life, watching the sun go down with Half Dome right in front of me. Once the stars started appearing, the Milky Way was popping. I woke up around 6 AM for sunrise, which was also incredible. I made some bread with the leftover pizza dough and had avocado, tomato, and basil toast with some delicious coffee. By the way, there were supposed to be eggs too, but they didn’t make it… they exploded inside my bear canister lol.
