@kadenwatson11: Did you know the Día de Los Muertos parade in Spectre was invented for the movie? Let’s discuss the impact of this James Bond movie! #filmtok #whattowatch #movie #jamesbond
Btw it’s “Dia de muertos” not “Dia de los muertos”

As a Mexican, I love this video 💀 It celebrates Día de los Muertos, explains how a movie actually influenced real life, calls out the overuse of sepia when filming in Mexico (a personal pet peeve), and even plugs Coco as a better depiction. Super respectful and resourceful to the culture. 10s all around 👏

Being a Mexican living in Mexico I think I have the responsibility to say that we didn’t have the parade because Día de muertos is mostly spend at home, at the cemetery or at the church cause those are the places where the altars are and yes the parade doesn’t have any cultural significance in reality 😅

Same as Spider-Man: Far from home, because there is no such thing as Prague carnival

You beat me to it but the Breaking Bad filter really did an injustice to the Mexico City scenes, they could have been beautiful with all the colors of the parade and city in general or at least some more interesting color grading..

I knew the parade wasn’t real, I didn’t realize they created it after the fact 😂

But how else are you supposed to know you are in Mexico without the sepia tone?!

It’s impressive how Mexico embraced the cinematic appeal. Dr. No did the same for Jamaica—turning it into a major tourist destination that still benefits the economy. Ian Fleming’s estate is now a resort, with James Bond Beach nearby. My mom and several relatives worked in Montego Bay’s hospitality industry at the height of that post-Bond boom.

Ok ok, yes, we did create THAT parade because of the movie, but there were already others before it, the Alebrijes parade was created in 2007, 8 years before the movie.

fun fact #2, the city bought the costumes and props from the studio to use for their first parade
