@tinyheartseducation: An ice block will not melt in time if it gets stuck in your child’s airway. It is a choking hazard because: ❄️ Slippery surface: It can easily slide down into the airway ❄️ Round shape: Perfectly sized to get stuck in a child’s small airway ❄️ Difficult to chew: Little ones often don’t have the chewing strength needed to break down ice safely Without oxygen: After 30 seconds, your child may become unconscious After 3 minutes, likely brain cell injury After 4 minutes permanent brain damage is likely After 10mins there is high risk of coma or death In an emergency, every second counts. No matter what a child has choked on, if they have a severe obstruction you must immediately start choking first aid to save their life 🚑
I’ve had ice stuck in my throat before, but nothing happens. It just melts.

A throat also isn’t a piece of paper. It’s warm in temperature so it will melt way faster than that. I agree it’s a hazard but spread correct information
