@tales_from_the_csuite: Ego and arrogance can derail any c-suite leader quickly. Great senior executives know how balance humility with confidence. Managing one's ego takes intellectual curiosity, a continuous desire to learn, and a passion for working together with others. Some of this comes naturally, but most of it is learned through experience. Navigating relationships with difficult types of people can be quite challenging. You have to know when to be flexible, when to stand your ground, and when to push back in a direct and assertive manner. At the same time, working with difficult people can sometimes mean just working with folks who are different. It takes good judgment and discernment to understand how people are wired and what makes them tick. You have to be able to assess people and situations quickly, get at underlying drivers and personal motivations, and cultivate a deep understanding of cross-cultural differences that exist between people from various backgrounds and experiences. Having a highly productive and sustainable impact in any organization requires influence without authority. Learning how to get things done with and through others is one of the only ways to create long-term success in any of your professional endeavors. Make sure to catch next week's episode of the Tales from the C-Suite podcast with my guest Kevin Silva to learn more how to be successful at the top of any organization. #talesfromthecsuite #leadership #seniorexecutive #executivecoaching #bandelliandassociates
