How do you have a hand tattoo as a teacher? I have no issues whatsoever with it, but just as a genuine question because I figured that teaching roles in public schools and private would have strict tattoo rules?

One of my favorite approaches to sapient AI is in the LANCER setting, where they're referred to by those who recognize them as non-human persons or NHP. The Gulf between what we have and what I would call that is impossibly vast, but a fascinating concept.

I’m reminded of how (very, very rarely) droids can be Force-sensitive in Star Wars. That franchise also has a related conversation about whether a sentient machine is a slave.

Love this discussion! Recently finished Frank Herbert’s Destination: Void and the 2nd half of the book deals with a very early version of that question of what makes someone human. I’ll have to check your books out now!

So, are all the humans in your stories able to use magic, cuz if not, then I would say that a robot that becomes sentient would technically be a person. Not necessarily human because they weren’t born/created in the same way humans were
