@dr.yousufzafar: What questions have you always wanted to ask an oncologist? So I don’t mean specifically about your cancer treatment, but I mean more about oncology, how we make decisions, or even related to general cancer questions. Let me know in the comments. #cancer #chemotherapy #oncology #cancertok
I want to know why after my blood levels start to come up after chemo (my rbcs, hgb, hct) they will drop again before my next chemo dose. Like this week I am 4 weeks out from chemo and last weeks labs were normal and this weeks were low. I thought chemo was out of the body in 2-3 days

Will medical oncologists follow the school of thought that cancer could be a mitochondrial/inflammatory disease or do they prefer to stay clear of this line of research and why?

I've never thought about this, how about: how much/ how does my radiation, surgical, and chemo docs discuss/communicate my care. How do they make decisions?

How do oncologists stay current on treatments and side effects? And do they listen to patients symptoms to record potentially new additional diagnostic criteria? I know medicine treats horses and ignores the zebras, but some of us patients are zebras and worry about falling through cracks in system.

I really wanna know if Oncologists find treatment plans on their own or do they always speak with colleagues/other oncologists for other options?

Can you talk about the advantages of neoadjuvant chemo? I hear a lot about adjuvant, but not much about neoadjuvant.

Ok so my question is. Why is ut when you have patient education about chemotherapy or immunotherapy that they always tell you about side effects but not what the good things that can happen?

How do you deal with people who think you are all hiding the "cure" and just making money off of cancer? As a patient, it is very upsetting. I can't imagine how it makes Drs feel.

My question is about whether doctors truly understand the emotions impact of the treatments they prescribe. I am a trauma psychologist who works with cancer survivors and I do endocrine therapy for high risk of bc. I have both experienced and see in others the hell that these treatments create for people. These treatments are so debilitating. I have a great oncologist who is willing to work with me on QOL issues, which has been terrible for me due to estrogen deprivation. But I speak to people all the time whose doctors seem to have no understanding of the emotional ramifications or how to help these issues. They are told the meds are not causing their problems or that they just simply need to deal with it. There seems to be a strong disconnect about the impact of treatment on the lives of patients. I’m just curious about the perspective of MDs on this topic. Thank you.

I would like to know if oncologists know the side effects of chemo are going to be bad and feel guilty when they meet patients for first time, knowing what they will go through
