@sophiemorrisofficial: Farm names that aren’t real farms! You’ll see names like ‘Brooklea’, ‘Duneen’ with a picture of a cow, ‘Grainne’s’ and ‘The Village Bakery’ across Aldi and Lidl shelves — and while they sound like lovely wholesome small producers, they’re actually just invented brand names. These aren’t real farms or family bakeries — they’re a made up brand name on products that are being sourced often from multiple large industrial factories to give the illusion of buying from a wholesome or artisan family business. This tactic is known as farmwashing — where supermarkets use names and imagery that suggest a product is coming from a local small-scale family farm or business, when it actually isn’t 👎 And it works — most people would be far more likely to trust and buy something that sounds local and from a real farm! This kind of marketing blurs the line between genuine small producers and large scale industrial products. And that’s the issue here- it’s a manipulative tactic to influence us to buy. Now that we know about farmwashing, we can shop with our eyes open and not be taken in by these tactics! Awareness and knowledge is power 💪 #marketingtactics #foodlabels #sophiesswaps
Thank you for your service to the Irish consumers. You are doing a great job. Buy Irish products wherever possible and try and support our own producers.

My fave is 'Chef Select', close to 100 products, from robot-made pesto, to palm oil protein pastries, to frozen family roast dinners. But did he really select any of them? The Chef? Did he?
