@gen.z.motherhood: I could go on and on about this. Birth is not just a physical event, but an emotional and spiritual event. You are meant to feel things. Your hormones are cascading through your body with purpose. If you prevent that, there can be increased risk for PPD PPA and feeling more baby blues. Unmedicated birth is HARD. But women do IMPOSSIBLE things every single day. It’s not out of our realm to do insanely awesome things!!! #labor #birth #unmedicatedbirth #motherhood #laboranddelivery
i tried to go without epidural during my induction had horrible back labor for 12hrs and finally caved and getting the epidural actually made us progress much better and kept both of us out of the distress we were in. so proud of women who can go natural

Okay. But I absolutely deserve something (financial compensation preferably but I’ll settle for a medal) for EVERYTHING ELSE THAT LED TO ME HAVING AN ✨UNWANTED✨ UNMEDICATED BIRTH. I will die on this hill. That was bs😂

I know it's not in the same category, but anesthesia makes me so nervous that I always refuse it when going to dentist. I just accept to feel painful and uncomfortable for a bit. Again, not the same category but it may give a different perspective.

What are your thoughts on epidural or other pain relief during a hospital VBAC?

Yes! I don't understand why society conditions women to be terrified of birth. I genuinely enjoyed my home births and they were really only painful during transition (my induction birth was painful the whole time, and I was terrified because the pitocin put my baby in distress). Going in mentally prepared makes a huge difference in pain. Birth was hard work, but my natural births were very low pain. I'd take birth over a migraine any day.

While the epidural helped my labor progress SO much faster, it also gave me insane anxiety. I feel like its a great tool, but no shame in wanting to avoid it for various reasons.
