In Alberta, carpentry is not a designated trade meaning that anyone can pick up a hammer and call themselves a carpenter. It is not required that the person goes to school. Hairdressers are required to go to school and thus, are considered to be a designated trade. So, you get what we have here. It’s unfortunate to say the least.

For those who don't know, the new home warranty program is owned by the builders. Their incompetency costed ME, $45,000 in repairs. If you're building a new house, hire a good Inspector, and keep a Lawyer on speed dial. True story.

The municipal inspectors gotta start doing a better job and tagging that stuff. It’s like they don’t care either. Maybe they get paid by the builder who knows
