Sadly if thats from 1896 they taste different from the original recipe because the Gros Michel banana (the original banana commercially sold and tasted closer to the artificial banana you get in candy or so im told) got commercially extinct in 1960 by a fungus and was replaced with the Cavendish banana and is being threatened by a new strain of the same fungus.

back then you would have had to have pushed the bananas through a sieve to remove the seeds. our current bananas are by and far seedless but they're predecessors were not
