I have a theory that most billionaires have an almost cult like belief that immortality will become possible in their lifetime, and so they'll have time to rebuild a new society from the ashes with them as gods who rule over it. I don't think any of them expect to ever die.

I live in Silicon Valley and I know many people who have become billionaires- some of whom y’all definitely have heard of. They really do have bunkers- I couldn’t believe it. They lose touch with reality extremely quickly.

The part about the luxury bunkers that always cracks me up is a common selling point is that they have mercenaries guarding the outside who will continue to guard the outside. And I'm always just like...okay, a)IF the mercenaries survive the fallout, B)how are you going to continue to pay them once money is worthless, and C)you just put a band of mercenaries with little to no loyalty to you in a position to unalive you for your food.
