if they remove negative gearing. people will stop buying IPs and turn to the stock market.

Simplest lever to sort inflation is to change GST up or down for a period. Everyone pays GST on everything. The more you buy the more GST you pay…

Don’t forget the private equity firms buying up cheap housing and either only putting them up for rent or letting them sit empty to artificially control the rental market in certain suburbs

I'd much prefer to see tax used as a control for inflation. At least that money can go back to the national budget.

during COVID all essential services realised they could charge whatever they want and we would have to pay it, this is obvious when you look at the price of food etc. the duopoly makes it much easier for them

They also increase rents based on the tap water, not the bath water.
I moved into my rental house in 2020, it was $275/w (and the real estate agent accidentally leaked to me that the previous tenant was paying $240), now it's $400/w... that's between 45-67%, and they're probably about to increase it again.

Thanks for this. My rent has gone up 50% in the last 4 years and our government is deliberately gaslighting us. They do the same with inflation!

which political parties or independents have a workable solution to this and other rising costs. we've the second highest median wealth in the world and we still can't afford what our parents and grandparents could.

Stopping corporate buying and cutting out air bnb. Capping rent increases would be a start But most of our policy makers are the corporate or multi home owners. So what chance do we have?

Great job explaining our biggest sins, we let international arrivals go straight to the front of the queue, I was always taught charity begins at home, and I took that to mean, first make YOURSELF strong with education and communication, then the money will flow, but I feel for the young ones….i served my country albeit last century, but I didn’t sign up to defend BANKS!🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🧐
