Everyone makes it so hard all you do is hook your tape on both plates and mark every 16” and put a x or mark on one side that your stud will cover and it’s done that’s it

Why do they call it a 2x6 if it’s not that size.

I was taught to layout to the side of the stud, not the center. Hook the edge and layout 15 1/4, 31 1/4, 47 1/4, 63 1/4....

Mark 15 1/4 - 31 1/4 - 47 1/4 and put a X ahead and you’ll always be good. Don’t need to go all that marking out

Interior and exterior dimensions for sheathing will not be the same. You will be cutting one or the other to fit.

Splainfish :
Just measure 16 from the outside of the first outside of the second and so on. It automatically sets up your centers.

What old other carpenter ever would have thought he would be on a phone watching very basic techniques being over complicated and most times incorrectly explained.🫤

Interesting fact: 90’s house floor joists were 16” apart except 12” under ceramic flooring. 2000’s house used I-beams but are 12” apart for entire house.
