The movement also takes its name from Muhammad al-Darazī, another preacher who spread its early teachings, though he was later rejected by the Druze themselves for his radical interpretations. After facing persecution from Islamic authorities, the Druze sought refuge in the mountainous areas of Lebanon and Syria, where they managed to preserve their religion and identity. Over the centuries, they formed tight-knit, autonomous communities, known for their discipline, loyalty, and self-governance. Beliefs The Druze faith blends elements of Ismaili Islam, Greek philosophy (especially Plato and Aristotle), Gnosticism, and other mystical traditions. It is monotheistic, though it interprets God in a deeply philosophical and symbolic way. Ethics and conduct: strong emphasis on honesty, loyalty, mutual aid, and defense of the community. Modern Identity Today, the Druze are recognized as an important religious and cultural minority in Lebanon, Syria, and Palestine.
