I’m 58. I was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia at 57. I’m so scared for the future. 😢

If you are in the US, I would STRONGLY recommend getting long term care insurance if you suspect dementia BEFORE you are diagnosed. You will NOT be eligible after a diagnosis. And from what I understand, Medicare/Medicaid will NOT pay for assisted living. It only pays if you need skilled nursing care (ie: late stage Alz).

How do you know the difference between menopause and brain fog and Alzheimer’s?

Did you take medication for sleep for a long period like more than a year?

You seem soooo normal and selfconscious. My mom was a doctor and she used to say that if you were aware of you being mentally disordered, it is usually a sign that you are not. Maybe you are just affected by menopause, or fatigue, or aging? I hope so for you, but if it’s not, we are all with you. I wisn we can go through this with serenity …

Wondering if you feel it is worth getting the diagnosis?

I had an early dementia diagnosis with these symptoms but then I got a positive Lyme test (no known bite or rash!) so I’ve been treating Lyme now. My Lyme dr said a lot of people have Lyme and don’t know it. 🥺

I'm post menopause, going through a traumatic divorce and been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, I do wonder if my memory is going because of all the stress! but it's scary! I found an apple in an upper cupboard today... I don't know the last time I used any of those pots or why the apple was there!!

Hello I’ve also suffered with anxiety all my life . I’ve just turned 60 but everything you said here has been worrying me for some time. My doctor said it’s anxiety when I have mentioned my memory issues.. it’s definitely getting worse though. Can you tell me how I can get my doctor to take me seriously? I have an appointment in march because it takes 3 months to get in in New Zealand to see a doctor unless you are literally dying. Thanks

My Mom is in long-term care with dementia. I am 60 and I've been having memory issues for almost a year now.

I was forgetting a lot in my 40’s. Once I started HRT my memory improved immensely, but for a while I did think I might have early onset dementia. It’s very scary and hard to tell what is actually happening.

Any Australians? The first thing they do is cancel your drivers license. A close friend who is in her 60s and lives on her own can no longer even drive to the shops for groceries. Is it the same in the States?

Thx for sharing…our stories are very much alike. I feel like something is going on 😞 just seen my NP and brought my concerns up to her. So we will see what becomes of this. Would be nice if we can keep in touch and share more.
