@ellweaverfilm: Spielberg’s Genius 🎬 MINORITY REPORT (2002) Dir: Steven Spielberg DP: Janusz Kamiński Cinematography Breakdown through the eyes of a filmmaker #fyp #filmtok #stevenspielberg #tomcruise #filmmaker
Spielberg might be the best at turning 4-5 shots into one and it's seamless. He's so good

He has cool shots sure but what are his movies doing? Nothing. There are much better directors in American cinema that deserve his hype.

Jaws is a particularly good example of blocking and camera movement coordination. It’s like getting multiple setups in one take.

I miss seeing the camera make large pans for character conversations as opposed to non-stop cuts from different angles

Spielberg uses the most cheffing elite techniques to cook beans on toast. Hasn’t directed a great script since about 1995

I really think Spielberg is the greatest director ever. Like nobody matches his talent and his ability to make incredible movies across basically every genre for 50+ years

I learned in film school you can't switch the position of two actors in the frame between cuts without showing them physically switch. otherwise it confuses the audience and takes everyone out of the scene.

The credit should be given to his Polish DOP . He comes up with a lot of those ideas

one of my favourite Spielberg shots is in ET. It starts off as a simple establishing shot suburbia then turns into a trombone shot. then a close-up of a camera lens, then pans round following some scientists to end on a close up of Keys keys. Any ordinary filmmaker would cut a few shots together, but of course Señor Spielbergo has to make a beautiful choreograft oner

And you did it when you ended the scene and started it again. Almost perfect loop friend. Very nice!

You forgot to include the expertly crafted product-placement when they close-up on the watch.

Also a good use of levels here. Camera slightly below eyelevel and the camera slightly gives a bit of chaos to them trying to figure out what to do to catch him. Camera level level in car after match cut giving cruises character determination to get where it needs to go. Awesome.! great storytelling and seamless.

Watch the “Horizon at the top frame interesting . . . Horizon at bottom of the frame interesting” speech.
