can you give me any advice for my hard keeper? im trying to put weight on him. the vet told me hes about 100 lbs under what he should be. I just got him feb 1st. hes 28 years old. He was a roping horse at one point t I was told and my vet showed me on his front right leg where hes bulged a little from the torque of being a head roping horse. so I feel for my old man. I just started him on Adequan injections and I finally found his old farrier... I had to use a different one twice since ive had him and I wanted to use his original farrier so he will be coming out in about 2 weeks. I am looking for ideas to keep him comfortable and bring his inflammation down from his arthritis. his vet told me to take him off the grain because that causes inflammation amongst other problems. but thats what's helping keep his weight at least on if not slowly building back up (nutrena proforce senior 2 qt twice a day) he also eats alfalfa pellets (1/4 inch) he refuses to have them mush like they should be so I damp them to where they swell but stay their shape. so I was thinking about making them mush like they should be and lightly adding some syrup and mixing it in to see if he will eat that? he also eats alfalfa hay. the vey just mentioned his grain. I would like to know what to add to his pellets mush that I will be creating to help with inflammation, gut health and balance, any nutrients or vitamins he needs (especially as a senior), joint bone teeth hair skin eyes gut all that health support. thank you.

As someone with horses who have weight conditions this is so difficult to explain, my 37 year old has the belly of the second video but atrophy of the first which is due to age, where as my 21 yr old has a disease that eats away muscle and fat within days without her meds (even with it’s a struggle) the caption I don’t think considers muscle degenerative diseases. This is my 21yr old she’s in great condition apart from the mild atrophy on the withers
