SOME of us function without transactional expectations… we usually get burned - I’ve never met a man who isn’t transactional… I loved freely… they liked all I brought into their lives… now I choose me and friendships that enjoy me as much as I do them and who also hust know how to connect and hear !! Some people know how to be good friends. Some don’t.

And how do you explain continuing to love someone, romantically, even when they’re not in your life anymore? Like you’re no longer receiving any sort of value or transaction or anything, and yet you still have love for that person.

Yes! Love isn't the problem. We all give to the level we are able. When we are mismatched in our abilities to exchange value, the relationship suffers. When I adjusted my expectations and stopped overfunctioning to fill the gap, things shifted. That shift probably looks like pulling away, but it is just balancing the exchange with grace and wisdom.
