Maybe part of the orbital socket. I had something similar happen in high school when I had a baseball bounce up and hit me in the face

if you had trauma there I would assume it's just a combination of scarring and inflammation.

in my opinion I would guess that it is just some swelling and what I call a bone bruise.

Definitely get those scans. I am glad you are getting checked out. I broke my face in 2019, and I still have 7 plates and 58 screws holding my orbital, jaw, and cheekbone back together. It took me a week and a half to go in because I had nerve damage and no pain, but it felt like things were poking out that shouldn't.
