Hmm. I'm not a scientist or an engineer, but this sounds like bollocks to me.

wouldn't that make the space station stronger. Like the different sections are now permanently welded together right? Or when a astronaut uses a power tool i. space and ot works without cold welding the internal parts. Crazy how it only works in talking but in reality it's not what's happening in the videos nasa shows of space walks

This is also why twins should never hug in space. The horror 😱

So why don’t we simply vaccume weld down here on the ground then ? Why do we weld titanium in a bubble filled with an inert gas instead of joining them in a vaccume chamber ? Greatly reducing costs. Oh right , because it’s bullshit.

so you cant use a hammer in space?

So I’m guessing the same thing would happen in a vacuum chamber here on earth 🤔

its only possible if you cut the metal while in space. if you bring two peices up with you they would have already oxidised and would be useless to try to put back together

First you have to remove the oxide layer🤣

space isn't a pure vacuum, otherwise even our stars and planets wouldn't be here.

So if we create a vacuum on earth and have two metal slab next to each other, it’ll fuse?

Must mean it’d be super easy and fun to weld togther huge structures in space (and also that they annoyingly stick together if u accidentally touch one to another)

So that means it would be more efficient and powerfull to weld in space? Im taking note on that for my future life in 3000 years
