Replying to @Lucky 100 lbs./45.5 kg. Landmine Thruster - age 55, November 29, 2023, 9:32 am 🌺CAUTION: THIS VIDEO IS FOR DEMONSTRATION PURPOSES ONLY. THIS EXERCISE CAN BE DANGEROUS. In spite of my failure to properly secure the equipment in the previous video, the Landmine Thruster is well worth any inherent risk for its ability to turn me into a better ATHLETE rather than a vertically strong weight lifter. Every exercise I devise or train with MUST in some way make me and others better at combat and/or soldiering, and those exercises tend to be full body, multi directional expressions. When I used to watch videos of Landmine exercises on YouTube, I thought it was more a a gimmick or something you do once you run out of “real” exercises to do with an Olympic bar. Wrong! Once I took a Landmine University workshop from my coach and mentor Junior Leoso in October of 2023, I UNDERSTOOD. I could see the lateral bending and twisting forces it imposed on the user, and that has always been appealing to me, but what I was missing was the all important FORWARD INTENTION. I always struggled with why all the big lifts were challenged in a vertical direction, while almost every sport I cared about required strength, power and endurance in the horizontal direction. The Landmine solves this dilemma by turning an Olympic Barbell from an evenly loaded vertical challenge into a long, arcing lever on a low fulcrum. This arrangement requires a TOTALLY different recruitment and application of the body in a way that is VERY difficult but offers proportional rewards. A single 25-45 lbs. plate SMOKES me in the most basic of Landmine exercises, and as an older guy, getting the most return from the least amount of weight is an equation I always appreciate. The Landmine University exercises and equipment literally define that criterion, and I kick myself for being so arrogant and stuck in my ways. But I’ve forgiven myself by becoming a dedicated student of what I now consider a vital component of my training. I have no partnerships nor financial incentives with Landmine University, and my enthusiasm and endorsement for this training system is meaningful and true ✊ Much aloha🌴
