✨ 3 extra tips from a first-time stocking maker 🎄 I haven’t made Christmas stockings before, nor am I much of a sewer, but when there’s a will there’s a way. 🪡🧵 Make sure you save this video so you can refer back to these tips! ✨ Pin, pin, pin! Before sewing, especially with the cuff and main stocking piece, make sure you pin and lay out your stocking. For me, figuring out how the cuff would look was the trickiest part of this Christmas stocking DIY. ✨ It’s essential to remember that the finished side of the cuff will get attached to the unfinished side of the stocking. So spend time planning this part out, otherwise your cuff will be inside-out! ✨ When all else fails, use hot glue. If you go back to the video, right when I finish sewing the main part of the stocking and pull it through the cufff you’ll notice that the cuff doesn’t want to lay down flat at the leather part. It wants to fold down where the fabric meets the leather. Leather just doesn’t fold as easily, and after trying to press down to make a fold, I decided it would be easier to run a line of hot glue under the cuff by where I wanted the cuff to fold. And it has worked perfectly! I also used hot glue to attach the main part of the stocking to the lower part of the cuff so that the fabric portion would keep it’s shape to the leather cuff better. Anddd I used hot glue again to attach the little ice skates to a little decorative string to the underside of the cuff. Handmade Christmas stockings are the perfect way to personalize your mantle this holiday season!
