You can always bring cash. They have ATMS that are open 24/7 for Mastercard, VISA etc.

i experienced the same. prior the flight ive setup the account but upon using Alipay in the subway, my account says its failing to activate. it is mentioned in the security message that i got restricted and cannot use pay, send etc. even after providing my passport, it is not lifted.

Thanks for sharing, how do you know if it’s set up properly? You mentioned you were able to use it initially so does that mean even if I set it up it may still not work once I arrive in China?

I set up we chat and Ali pay. But I also made sure I took cash just in case of this… but my we chat and Ali pay worked perfectly

thankyou for sharing this and not just sit there complaining. I always tell foriegn tourist to have cash as a backup, cash is still accepted. Also Bank Of China does foreigners exchange.

Same thing,i got restricted then got finally for having my China Sim card on a phone that VPN.The inconvenience and embarrassment when it wasn't working.your option is to open another account.
