Do y’all understand high school students, college students, and grad school students sometimes attend public courtroom proceedings - perhaps for a class or because they are interested in law. Sigh. Sometimes they may go as a group or one or two at a time. It’s not unusual.

It's public. Anyone can show up. As they should have said something to the judge. The defense should have requested closed court. If the other cases are open court, more ppl will be there wanting to see the trial.
