@newscpr: On Sept. 27, Chrisanna Elser greeted an unexpected visitor at her home in south Denver’s Fort Logan neighborhood. It was Sgt. Jamie Milliman, a police officer with the Columbine Valley Police Department who covers the town of Bow Mar, which begins just south of Elser’s home. Her first thought, she said, was to see how she could help him. But Milliman seemed sure that Bow Mar’s cameras had given him a break in a rather small case: the theft of a package from someone’s doorstep. But Elser had her own trove of video evidence, eventually convincing the local police chief to drop the allegation — while still leaving her shaken and uncertain about the growing use of surveillance in local policing. Nah because if she didn’t have any cameras she’d be SCREWED!!!

she has a Rivian truck and he thought that she stole a $25 package? not to say that it's an impossible situation, but I don't know anyone with a Rivian who makes less than six figures.

I’m guessing the person whose package was stolen knows this officer well… I’ve never seen a cop care about a stolen package, let alone “hunt” a suspected person down.

"I'm not going to show you the evidence I have unless you admit to doing it" is suuuuuch a cop thing to demand.

You know, someone in the comments made an EXCELLENT point. Raise your hand if you’ve been the victim of a crime more serious than a $25 package theft, only to have the cops say “welp, not much we can do🤷♂️”

keeping in mind, this happens to POC *constantly*, and many of them unfortunately do not have rivian truck cams to clear their name.

The police in my city don’t investigate assaults, home invasions, or armed robberies. Hard to imagine this much energy over a $25 package!

Cops can legally lie unless under oath. Stay diligent. Speak only with a lawyer present.

File a false summons charge against the police station… take him to civil court and if you incurred any fees protecting yourself (lawyer, etc), sue him for that
