I got garlic one year because we knocked on a house and the people weren't handing out candy and had forgotten their lights on. they felt so bad gave my kids a $1 each and handed me a bulb of home grown garlic. they were the best house that year

Oh the memories. Someone in our neighborhood did candy or painted rock (they were small). Word spread quickly and well, my kids have an entire collection of painted rocks. Memories of Halloween fun.

I gave out 10 lbs of potatoes last year. This year, 20 lbs. Still had candy left at the end of the night. Kids were chanting "potato! potato!" as they left, and other kids came running, skipping other houses, to get a potato.

my kids are adults now and we still remember the time they said trick or treat and the guy giving stuff out answered "trick" and they got chicken buillion cubes and onions
