This clamp is Not for columns it's for horizontal liebig-coolers/condensers. that's why your column moves all the time. get one at the top and one at the bottom for lateral a d vertical fixation. and use Red vacuum tubing for shaking/sedimentation. If you form a Ring of tubing you can slap with one Hand from all sides.

I've always prepared the slurry directly in the column, placing the dry silica and adding the eluent afterwards. It makes less glassware dirty 🙂

Alright I’ve gotta ask why did you wet what I’m assume is silica gel in an Erlenmeyer rather than just loading the column then adding eluent? Seeing you have to tap the column to level your silica shocked me lol.
