On my last trip, they only took flight once during the week, so make sure to give yourself enough time to catch them. Base yourself in Göreme, the heart of Cappadocia and the best place to see the balloons at sunrise. DAY 1 Spend your first day wandering through Göreme’s charming cobblestone streets, exploring its cave houses and cozy cafés. Stop by Galerie İkman, a carpet shop where you can book a photoshoot in their colourful courtyard, grab a drink at a rooftop bar (I recommend Seten), and end the night with dinner at Helke, my favourite meal from the trip! DAY 2 Visit Paşabağ Valley, known for its fairy chimneys – ancient rock formations once home to monks in the 4th century. Then head to Avanos, Turkey’s pottery capital, to join a pottery workshop and create your own handmade souvenir. DAY 3 By day three, hopefully, it’s balloon flight day! After your early sunrise start, relax by your hotel pool or treat yourself to a traditional Turkish hammam & spa experience. In the evening, book a sunset horse riding tour through Rose Valley. DAY 4 Explore Love Valley to see more fairy chimneys (or go on an a thrilling ATV tour!).
