An ex-Dolly Parton impersonator handed a jail sentence for publishing information likely to lead to the identification of a victim of Jeffrey Donaldson has said she will write a musical about her experience. Donna Toman was charged over a social media post in June in violation of the law protecting the identity of victims of sexual offences. The 55-year-old, of Lord Moira Park in Ballynahinch, Co Down, pleaded guilty at her first appearance hearing in August with the case adjourned for a pre-sentence report. A lawyer for Toman said she wanted to have it noted she offers an unreserved apology for what she did and that it was a “lapse in judgement”. The video, he said, had been edited to remove any references to the victims in the case within 90 minutes of it being posted. Toman was given three months in prison but freed on her own bail of £100 pending an appeal of the sentence. Shortly after the hearing, Toman took to Facebook where she informed “friends, family and followers” of the sentence before they saw it on the news. She added: “Be careful what you put on Facebook. Because even if you feel you are protecting the innocent. And especially if you don’t know the law well. “Wanted everyone to know at the same time. Love you all. “I’ll use the experience to write a musical. Always a silver lining.” Ex-DUP MP and party leader Donaldson (63) was found guilty by a jury earlier this year of 18 historic sex offences, including one count of rape. He is due to be sentenced at Newry Crown Court on Thursday. His solicitor has previously confirmed that papers have been lodged for an appeal. #jeffreydonaldson #court #northernireland
