Original Story: We had a patient who kept calling an ambulance to bring her to the ER for dental pain. Once she arrived, she would sign out AMA and walk to her usual corner to work as a “street escort.” 😂 It took the staff a while to figure out that she was just using the ambulance for a free ride into town. -Albany, NY

We had a young woman call an ambulance for a cough. She didn’t have anyone so her 3 yr old had to come with. She ended up leaving and leaving her child in the room. I was so sad to see security having to hold this sweetheart waiting for cps and police to show up. You could tell this got him in the feels.

We had a regular at the ER that would leave AMA and walk to the bar down the street. Every Friday, about 8pm. 😅 I worked EMS and at the ER. I saw her plenty. lmao

im a 911 dispatcher, we have a patient who calls all the time like this to get rides to the hospital, signs out AMA... so she could get a ride to that side of town to see her boyfriend...😒

Had a guy doing that to us, protocol was we went to closest facility, which was the hospital we were taking him to. As soon as he got there he would leave and go visit family. After we found that out we figured out there was another closer hospital so as soon as we took him there he stopped calling

Try that one in Switzerland. I dare you. Not only will your insurance not cover the ride (which will make 1200 to 2600 bucks per ride out of your own pocket), but you'll also have to pay the ER entry fee of round about 150 bucks. Every. Time. You. Pull. That. Shit.
