I believe that viral images like this, used to cause fear, can start off just being an image, but something can attach to them. Something very real that can use the image to terrorize.

I remember the challenge. I wouldn’t let my kids watch YouTube during that time because it was everywhere. Peppapig was a big one people put the image in.

2018-2020ish my son was 3.5-6 in that time frame and I remember it popped up on videos on YT and he was TERRIFIED of it. I tried to reassure him that it was fake and he was safe but he slept with me for years because of it. so I don't doubt people have had terrifying situations based around it.
