@teaching_mrsh: Leaving the classroom comes with pitfalls you wouldn’t expect. Especially when your whole identity is tied into being a teacher. #TeachingMrsh #lifeafterteaching #formerteacher
This is so true. Teaching is who you are. It is not just a profession. You leave the classroom and lose your identity. Now you get to rebuild it.

This is so true. When I retired, so much changed. Not only did I not have a routine, I felt like I lost my identity. It took time to find myself without being defined by my relationship to others. (Wife, mom, teacher, etc). Eventually you will find a new routine. Enjoy the journey.

I left teaching 3 years ago, and I wasn’t prepared for the identity crisis.

I am so tired of living by my alarms… so tired… I’m still in the classroom and loose stuff constantly, including my sanity.

I want out of the classroom so badly. I think inleft a couple years back and just didn't know it. Money ans schedule has been the only thing that has kept me there. It's a work in progress.

I adore your honesty, I feel like I'd feel this exact way if I left teaching.

It took a solid 2 years for me. Highly recommend therapy! I had so much shame associated with leaving.
