Jason Landry is a 21 year old Texas State University student who vanished under mysterious circumstances on the night of December 13, 2020. His disappearance remains one of the most baffling missing persons cases in recent Texas history… On the night he disappeared, Jason left his college apartment in San Marcos, Texas, around 10:55 PM, driving home to Missouri City for Christmas break. Digital records show his phone stopped using the Waze navigation app near Luling, Texas. Rather than continuing on his planned route via I-10, he went straight through an intersection onto Salt Flat Road, a dark, unpaved rural road…. Investigators believe he lost control on the gravel, overcorrected, and spun out, crashing his Nissan Altima into a tree/fence line. A volunteer firefighter discovered the crashed car abandoned. The headlights were still on, the keys were in the ignition, and the passenger side door was locked. When deputies and Jason’s father searched the area, they found nearly all of Jason’s personal belongings left behind. His clothing was found scattered along the roadway about 900 feet from the crash site such as Jason’s shirt, shorts, socks, and underwear. Inside or near the vehicle were his wallet, cell phone, laptop, gaming system, backpack, and a small amount of Mary jay. The case remains an active, open investigation. His family and volunteer groups still host annual candlelight vigils in Luling on the anniversary of his disappearance, and a $20,000 reward remains available for any credible information that leads to answers or brings him home.
