@thinkingcanine: One big red flag for dog anxiety and aggression is when a dog doesn’t recognize people they know right away. Dogs have great senses and when a dog is so keyed up and anxious that they aren’t using their senses normally, it’s a gigantic red flag. #anxiousdog #fearfuldog

immediately reminded me of the girl whose dog bit part of her face off when she woke it from sleep, this really should not be taken likely 😭 Iirc the dog had to be put down after. Why would you risk that if you know your dog has these problems?

My dog does this but as soon as he sees familiar faces he switches to friendly immediately. Do I still need to correct this?

Startle response. It’s typically from a neurological issue when it’s a known person.

I feel like the intial reaction was normal, but the continued barking is abnormal, my dog is EXTREMELY protective and naturally pretty high strung, when my husband comes home very late my dog will intially flip out charging right down the the stairs barking his head off to confront the intruder but immediately calms once he realizes who it is. The dog in the video shouldn't be seeking to protect her from her husband and should be able to recognize him.
