I think the other comments were cruel. OP is trying to move on after losing the love of his life and the woman had a child with, of course he’s still gonna speak highly of his wife that passed away. He doesn’t hate Natalie just because he still holds space for his wife.

She clearly wants a regular family, but a widowed father is definitely not the place to look for that. She got desperate and is also weirdly attached to the son. It's concerning. He shouldn't have been dating someone in the first place though, he places his wife on a pedestal and can't truly love another woman, at least not right now.

on the family thing, i dont think she understands that you can be a mother figure and not be "mom". i lost my mum as a kid and she is my mum, but my stepmum who i call by her first name is also family. they hold different but equally important parts in my mind/perception of my family

His boundary wasn’t wrong at all tho. The only thing I’d disagree with is that it’s really up to his son who he views as his mother figure(not saying the gf was a mother figure). If op meets a woman in the future and the son wants to call her mom then I do think that op should respect that
