I graduated last month and earn £43k now with no corporate experience. Uni was the best choice for me personally, I learnt so much and gained invaluable life experience as well as cherishable friendships and the freedom was so important for me growing up in a strict household. I would never discourage or encourage anyone either way, I think everyone has their own path

It depends, everyone’s different and some careers need degrees, uni is a fun experience, work is 40+ years, may as well enjoy the last years of youth without the restrictions of 9-5

Uk education system brainwashes people like me. Times have changed theoretical knowledge is undervalued employers care more about Practical. New world means adjusting to this or being left behind. I experienced all this struggle after graduating with a First 😭

btw this does not apply to those who come from a humble/unprivileged background. Universities offer so many opportunities for you to network and they provide placement opportunities. You get sm guidance from their career services.

You were just lucky. Most companies are looking for newly grads, university open doors but I agree, apprenticeships are fantastic but they’re very competitive.

the ones making money these days are hairdressers nail saloons and ppl doing botox .they were jobs ppl looked diwn on .the beauty market is booming .

Yes! The best decision I made left school at 16 and got into my corporate job at 17, was working with people fresh out of uni with degrees.
