@stereogum: R.I.P. Lô Borges. One of the most influential figures in Brazilian music, the singer/songwriter died last night after an unspecified illness according to his family. Born Salomão Borges Filho, Lô Borges was one of the founders of the Clube da Esquina movement alongside his brother Márcio and Milton Nascimento in the early '70s. The collective blended Música Popular Brasileira with psychedelic rock and jazz, and Lô Borges' 1972 self-titled LP is an all-time classic. "Lô will leave us a void and a huge longing, and Brazil loses one of its most genius, inventive and unique artists," Nascimento shared this morning. Lô Borges was 73. #LoBorges
