@oursignedworld: Another day with my voice off. I don’t do this as often as I’d like to, but trying to implement it more. #asl #signlanguage #babysigning #bilingualkids #bilingualfamily

i think its so astounding that humans can recognise sign language before their native tongue. like it makes sense but its still mind boggling

It's still mysterious and amazing to me that how can a baby pick up sign language even though I have had full courses on babies' language acquisition!😅🤩

“Luckily my friend is Deaf.” 😭😍 This is such a beautiful sentence. I dated a Deaf man, but outside of his school (he was a teacher for the Deaf) his world was all lip reading and struggling to keep up. I would interpret, but that absolutely affects the dynamic.

Can I ask why you don’t use your hand and voice at the same time for those who lip read or might use a different form of sign language

I hope this doesn’t come across as rude but the formula ByHeart was recently recalled, not sure if the specific one you’re using is part of the recall but wanted to make you aware just in case❤️

Given this worked with her older daughter, I don't think people should be telling her how to parent or talking about a research with only a few test subjects🙄

Honestly I feel like sign language is easy for babies cause they just gotta figure out which hand signals go with each word instead of speaking and sounding things out

As a hearing mom (also ASL Interpreter) with hearing children, my children were communicating in ASL before 1. We've done all the approaches Courtney uses.

I love the voice off time! Sort of random question, but while out to lunch with your Deaf friend, would you communicate with restaurant staff in ASL also, or switch back to verbal? Just curious!

People don’t seem to understand that deaf is a culture and that culture’s language is sign. Why do people act as if it’s not a full-fledged language?! No one says any of this stuff to others outside of their culture teaching their children their first language.

This is sad and I hate to admit it but I’ve never really thought about being deaf and being out to eat and trying to order. I assume they point to what they want and sign to you if they have any modifications or questions and I assume the waiter uses you as a interpreter but I can imagine it’s difficult if they were to go out to eat alone.

It’s good to practice at young age because then they start to mimic you at early age and memorise it more
