Hans Walters was a veteran Las Vegas police officer who, in January 2013, took the lives of his wife, Kathryn Walters, and their 5-year-old son before ending his own life in their Boulder City home. Before the tragedy, Walters called 911, admitting what he had done and saying he planned to harm himself. When police arrived, the house was set on fire. The case deeply shocked the community and brought attention to the mental health struggles faced by even seasoned officers.
